Thailand hotel staff suffering financially from Covid restrictions
Thailand hotels have been bearing the brunt of Covid restrictions,with many closed. The staff in this video who were on furlough for eight months are now on a three-day week,now laid off in Chiang Mai, a major tourist destination. A further setback has been the diagnosis of new cases originating in bordering Myanmar which has led to a decline in domestic tourism.
While the staff remain cheerful and the band plays on, prospects are bleak, with staff outnumbering customers.
Thailand has recorded 4192 positive cases and 60 deaths from the virus.
