Bizarre record attempt sees Indian teacher swim 1km with legs shackled
A primary school teacher from India has attempted a world record for swimming one kilometre with his legs shackled.
Brave Nagaraja Kharvi took on the waves of the Arabian Sea at Tannirbhavi beach, Mangalore in southwest Karnataka state with his legs chained together in the Padmasana position, completing the swim in 25 minutes and 16 seconds.
Kharvi is no stranger to swimming as he grew up close to the Arabian Sea in the fishing communities, starting at an early age and now he practices for two hours a day.
The hard work has paid off as Kharvi has already bagged two gold medals and one bronze in the national swimming competitions and hopes to secure this new world record.
The footage was captured on December 18, when local officials were present.
