Local tourist and pilgrims are allowed to trek Bud Bongao, the highest mountain in the province of Tawi-Tawi and popular sightseeing destination for the Philippine monkeys. Tourist are allowed to feed the monkeys with breads and bananas as they trek to the summit.

Bud Bongao is one of the last moist forests in the Sulu Archipelago and renowned as a sacred mountain by Muslim locals and visitors doing pilgrimage to the mountain.

Hikers are allowed to trek with proper observance of social distancing and wearing face mask.
