Hungry wild monkeys swarmed around a truck carrying bananas in Myanmar.

The primates jumped into the vehicle after seeing the ripe yellow fruits in the back in Takon mountain, Mandalay, on May 15.

More monkeys were attracted to come as the truck’s passenger threw bananas at the starving animals.

Driver Min Zaw said he took a truck-full of bananas to the mountain to feed the hungry creatures and give thanks to the Gods as it was his birthday that day.

He said: ‘A lot of monkeys lived there so visiting tourists bring treats for them. I hope the monkeys were happy with the banana I offered.’

In under five minutes, the truck was out of bananas, and the monkeys started leaving the truck alone.

Similar to the plight of neighbouring countries, monkeys in Myanmar that live in tourist spots have been left hungry due to the pandemic preventing visitors from travelling. Monkeys in these areas usually depended on handouts from tourists for food.
