A young elephant with her mother avoids the heat at the hospital of the Thai Elephant Conservation Centre in Lampang province, Thailand.

Footage shows the young calf being hosed down by a keeper in the 35 degrees Celsius heat on March 8.

Vets from the TECC last week saved five elephants who had been accidentally poisoned by the herbicide paraquat in neighbouring Chiangmai province.

They suffered burns to the mouth, especially the tongue, from the dangerous banned herbicide. This mother and calf were also injured from paraquat exposure and receiving treatment. They are recovering well, according to the vets.
