Officials are investigating as to why dozens of pig carcasses were are littered along the banks of the Yellow River in northern China.

The video, filmed in Dalad Banner in Inner Mongolia on March 21, shows the carcasses piled up along the Yellow River.

The finding of the dead pigs has raised concerns about possible pollution or the spread of illness.

Workers have collected and treated the carcasses as well as disinfected the area.

It is unknown why the pig carcasses were on the banks of the Yellow River.

近日，在黄河内蒙古达拉特旗段发现大堤内有不少死猪，有的零星几头分散在堤坝护坡上，有的十几头堆在国堤通往主河道土路两侧，有的十几头浸泡在堤内水中。3月21日18时许，达拉特旗通报相关处置情况称，经现场初步核查，丢弃死猪现象确实存在。沿黄国堤内部分段落丢弃死猪已做无害化处理，相关情况正在调查。目前，当地公安部门正在对现场进行调查取证。农牧、疫控部门正在对死猪进行采样，开展流行病学调查等追踪溯源工作，并按照有关规定对死猪迅速进行收集，进行无害化处理，对丢弃死猪区域进行全面消毒。（视频由内蒙古台提供）
