Beautiful pink and grey cockatoos called Galahs (Eolophus roseicapilla) have moved on to the south-western coastal plain of Western Australia since the climate began to dry in the mid-1970s. These Galahs were part of a flock of more than 30 birds that landed on the lawn at Coodanup on the eastern side of Peel Inlet and began feeding amongst the large woody fruit (called gum nuts) of a large Marri tree. Like most cockatoos, Galahs are noisy, and spend much of their time squabbling and playing.
