Unfortunately hundreds of honeybees were also after the precious nectar placing the birds at risk of being stung.

A pair of Lorikeets were collecting pollen and nectar from a flowering palm in Booragoon, a suburb of Perth in Western Australia. The palm flowers also had hundreds of Honeybees (Apis mellifera) collecting pollen and nectar from them, placing the birds at risk of being stung as they fed. The Lorikeets disturbed the bees and made a hasty retreat. Fallen palm flowers and bees littered the paving beneath the palm tree.
