Skilled Whitewater River Guide Rows Wrecked and Twisted Driftboat Through Dangerous Rapids in Idaho Wilderness

Buy video

Wilderness whitewater guide "Zeke", rows a salvaged aluminum driftboat from a standing position through the technically difficult "Lower Powerhouse" and "Pistol Creek" rapids- both Class IV whitewater rapids. On the river banks, a large group of boaters cheer on their friend as he successfully negotiates the treacherous rapids in the ruined boat.

The boat had been damaged and sunk in the rocks of "Upper Powerhouse" rapid in Idaho's remote Frank Church Wilderness on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River and pinned against the rocks for over a week.
A group of professional river guides used a "Z" drag composed of ropes and pulleys to extricate the wrecked and twisted boat, and Zeke volunteered to row it out to the take-out, near Salmon, Idaho- 89 miles downriver.
