This is the hilarious moment a man plunged into a "10-foot-deep" hole while attempting to cross a river in the Maldives.

In the clip, Martin Lewis, a business owner, from Somerset, who is on a trip of a lifetime celebrating his 50th birthday, can be seen squelching through the sludgy banks of the stretch of water dressed smartly in light khaki trousers, and a crisp blue shirt.

He complains “I don’t know how I’m gonna get across. Ah, I’m gonna get my f….., look my trousers are getting dirty,” His wife Rachael, 38, who is filming her husband, can be heard in the background.

He continues: “Look at the state of my feet I’ve got to try and get over there.” Before taking two steps forward and vanishing completely.

Martin was left in total shock after the hysterical incident occurred.

“My wife suggested taking a shortcut across the Island to get to the other side,” He said, from the island of Fuvahmulah.

“I’ll be honest I knew that my feet were going to get wet, I even considered that perhaps the bottom of my trousers may also get wet, and thought it could make an amusing video, so my wife proceeded to film.

“I think the hole may have been about 9 or 10 feet deep, I kept going down but I wasn’t fazed or scared after spending a week here diving with tiger sharks.”

Lucky enough for Martin, the water was a cosy 28 degrees Celsius and he managed to get out of the murky water, without any trouble.

“After I reached the surface, scrambled out, and sat there composing myself, my wife laughed for a good ten minutes,” Martin, who lives with Rachael in Spain revealed.

“She was doubled over most of the time, trying desperately not to wee herself.

“Afterwards we walked away and got on the moped we had hired, drove straight to the beach and I jumped in the sea and cleaned up.”

The video that has been liked over 3 million times on TikTok alone, left social media users in stitches:

“It definitely got on his trousers,” Someone joked.

This was followed by: “Sadly this man is in an alternate dimension. The man that came out is parallel."

Another person said: “My boy went to Narnia,”

Someone else wrote: “He went to Atlantis and back.”

A viewer, who was left in hysterics after watching the footage, commented: “I’ve watched this 14 times and I’m still cracking up.”
