A dad who tried to stop his son getting wet fell head first into waves leaving himself soaked while his sister filmed laughing.

Mick Murphy had taken his son Lucas, one, and sister Sunny, to Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear, when Lucas decided to run straight towards the North Sea.

Hilarious footage shows Mick trying to scoop his son out of the water because he is usually scared of the sea before completely toppling over.

Incredibly he managed to get his body under Lucas keeping his head dry but left himself absolutely drenched as Sunny only laughed and filmed the fall.

Mick said: “The waves looked really big coming in so I went to get Lucas out. He’s usually scared of the sea, but on this occasion went straight in.

“In all honesty, I just lost my footing and went down headfirst. But I did managed to save my boy as there wasn’t a bit of hair on his head that was wet.

“The only way I was in pain was the pride. I also dropped my phone in and had to go in after it again.

“Sunny thought it rather funny and as most Millennials these days, thought it best to film rather than help. She found it absolutely hilarious and laughed all the way home.

“Because it’s the North Sea it was really, really cold. I was soaked and freezing. Lucas didn’t care, he just ran straight back in to the sea afterwards.”
