A number of police officers from the Traffic Directorate of the South Sulawesi Regional Police provided assistance to poor fishermen and residents of the island of Lae-lae, Makassar, Indonesia, who were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, Friday 6 August 2021, morning.

The assistance was given in the middle of the ocean, to a number of fishermen who were catching fish and also by visiting the residents of Lae-lae Island. The assistance provided was in the form of food, rice and other instant foods.

Head of Sub-Registration and Identification of the Traffic Directorate of the South Sulawesi Police, AKBP Muhammad Yusuf Usman in an interview said, "This activity is a routine activity carried out during the pandemic in Makassar City and its surroundings, by providing assistance to fishermen and the community on Lae-lae Island.

This activity aims to help the community in this place, and this activity runs smoothly. For the concept of providing assistance by passing fishermen at sea, then we give it to those we meet in the middle of the sea," he said. (*)
