Hurricane Ida brings major flooding to the Philadelphia Area
The remnants of Hurricane Ida dumped 6”-8” of rain on Philadelphia on Wednesday, September 1. The city awoke to major flooding Thursday morning. The Schuylkill River, projected to crest at 9am, surpassed the major flood level of 14 feet, according to sources, sending vast amounts of water into the city’s business district. The River at a flood level of 16', according to sources, became a raging behemoth and completely covered the popular Schuylkill River Trail. The water came close to reaching the tops of lamp posts along the river trail.
