There were scenes of celebration on the streets of Conakry Sunday after some Guineans took to the streets to congratulate soldiers who detained President Alpha Conde following hours of heavy gunfire. Mutinous soldiers in the West African nation then announced on state television that the government had been dissolved in an apparent coup d’etat.

"I filmed it yesterday around 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the main lane that leads to the presidential palace. At least 300 to 500 meters from the palace because from there you can see the building. People say: “Alpha Condé zero, we are free", they are singing, dancing and running around and then the groups gathered in the presidential alley and the soldiers issued a summons to disperse the people. People are angry a lot because the country is tough with the increase in gasoline at the pump confinement the cost of living all was on the rise caused by the increase in gasoline prices" said Mamany, author of the video.
