Dutch woman rescues injured pigeon lying in canal and nurses it back to health
A woman in Alkmaar, the Netherlands, managed to rescue an injured pigeon that was found lying in a canal.
This footage, filmed on September 1 and 2, shows Sara Bes rescuing the bird and taking care of him in her house.
"I was about to clock out when my colleagues and I saw a pigeon in the water," Bes said.
"We decided to rescue him and I took him home on my bike after finding out that the animal ambulance couldn't come.
"I didn't have much hope that he would survive because he was young and very weak. At home, I dried him with the hairdryer. The next day, fortunately, he was much better and even started to eat."
After feeding him, the kindhearted woman took the bird to an animal shelter for better care and was assured that the pigeon would be able to fly again in a few days.
