Russian freediver Alexey Molchanov set a world record after he reached depths of over 100 metres in the Bahamas.

Molchanov is seen plunging to 118 metres under constant weight bi-fins at the Vertical Blue 2021 event held in July.

The diver managed to hold his breath for four minutes and 38 seconds during his attempt.

“I am very happy to have been able to take the bi-fins record deeper, and to do so in the fins that bear my name,” said Molchanov.

“I want to fine-tune some things to make the descent more streamlined, and to quicken the rate of my descent but I know what to adjust and I will.”
