This is the emotional moment a grandmother reunited with her grandchildren after spending nearly two years apart due to pandemic restrictions in the Philippines.

Concepcion ‘Conching’ Caneza, 77, was finally able to hold her two granddaughters tight when they made a surprise visit to her home in Albay, Bicol province.

Mother Jennylyn Cañeza-Andes said: ‘My mom lives with us and she just goes home to our province of Bicol when it’s time to harvest at our farm.

‘When she went to Bicol in December 2019, she could not return to us due to the pandemic. My husband, myself, and especially our children were very sad about it.’

Jennylyn added that it was hard to contact her mother because the network connection was poor in the province.

Because the kids missed their beloved grandmother so much, Jennylyn and her husband decided to make an unscheduled cross-provincial trip.

Since the visit was unplanned, the entire family had to undergo antigen tests at the borders to ensure they weren’t carrying Covid-19. It reportedly took 12 hours before they finally reached Conching’s home.

Jennylyn said: ‘We are both happy as we were able to visit our beloved mother. We didn’t even bring any extra clothes since the trip was not in our actual plan. But it turned out really well.’
