A crocodile roughly seven-metres (22 feet) long was caught in Indonesia's Papua province and found to have human body parts inside.

Footage shot on Friday 21 January showed the giant reptile surrounded by villagers, who cut it open.

The croc preyed on people living near the Ayuka River in Mimika Regency until it was caught and killed.

Head of the Timika Search and Rescue (SAR) office, George L Mercy Randang, said a search for victims was carried out jointly by officers, and residents of Tipuka Village.

They were looking for Damianus Yauta (30) who was lost to crocodiles while washing mud crabs in the Ayuka River on Thursday evening.

The found him in the crocodile's mouth, so decided to kill the beast with spears in order to release the body.

Having killed the croc, the human's remains were taken to a relative, along with the crocodile that killed him.
