This is the shocking moment a car rammed into a restaurant while customers were dining in.

The store's patrons were eating peacefully in the restaurant in Thailand's Ang Thong province on February 15 when they heard a loud collision at the gate moments before the car trashed the place.

CCTV footage shows how the car barreled through a set of tables just a few feet away from the group.

The terrified diners were jolted from their seats as the runaway car ploughed through restaurant property and knocked down power to a row of light bulbs.

The driver, who had borrowed the car from a relative, said that it was his first time driving the vehicle, causing him to use the wrong gears out of habit from his manual car.

The customers barely dodged being hit by the out-of-control vehicle and were not injured.

Restaurant owner Khun Pongpat said the driver agreed to pay for the damage.
