A high-speed truck lost control and rammed a restaurant 'while drag racing' on a wet road.

CCTV footage shows the vehicle drifting backwards and slamming through the shop's kitchen in Patum Thani province, Thailand, on March 29.

A customer who was drinking on the tables outside was stunned when the truck suddenly crashed about 15ft behind him.

The impact demolished the shop's roll-up doors and severely damaged the kitchen. The truck crashed the tables and chairs and penetrated the store structure causing damage to the entrance. The driver, however, was unscathed and fled the scene after the incident.

Porridge restaurant manager Natchara said: 'Our shop had been operating for 15 years. This was not the first time a vehicle crashed here. Something must be done to end this.'

Natchara added that the pickup truck 'was drag racing' even when the road had been wet from a thunderstorm that passed.

She said: 'The truck was among those who were drag racing. This was a favourite route for them. The toad was wet from a thunderstorm but they still did it.

'The collision destroyed the wooden chairs, tables, the door and also the ice-freezer. The driver will have to take responsibility for the damage.'

The restaurant manager had informed the police who were now searching for the driver who escaped. No one was reported hurt in the incident and investigations are ongoing.
