Tiny Silambam martial artist performs stunts and hopes the sport will enter the Olympics
A tiny practitioner of the Indian martial art of Silambam demonstrated that size, or lack of it, is no barrier to sporting performance.
The girl, who is just 73cm (29 inches) tall, was one of dozens of trainers and trainees performing the martial art at an event on 27 February in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu state. She performed with a cane that was longer than she is tall.
A few stood on glass bottles or had a cup of water on their head while performing. Some even performed blind-folded.
The event was organised to popularise the sport, and with the hope it might one day enter the Olympics.
