Buy video

The night of March 31 to April 1st, after midnight, there was very faint northern lights low over the NW horizon but it clearly appeared to have pink colour, so I shot timelapse nightlapse video withlong shutter speeds and high ISO... indeed it appeares first in pink, then turning purple, with some green and also blue... towards the end the brightening blue from the right side is the pre-dawn brightening of morning twilight.
This is timelapse shot over several hours , starting just after midnight.
camera Canon EOS R6, ISO 12800, 6 seconds exposure for each frame, at F 2.0 ( lens Samyang fisheye 12mm F2.8 , adapted with Viltrox speedbooster 0.71x , thus circular fisheye 8.5mm F2.0 .
this auroral event was very faint and hardly visible.
thanks to the lowlight capable camera, settings and lens combination also the milky way is visible and lots of satellites criss-crossing the sky,
This was just south of Kirkjubaejarklaustur in southern Iceland, looking W and WNW.
Most northern lights displays are green , frequently also with pink edges when very bright, but this is the first time I saw such persistent pink followed by purple and deep blue.
filmed in 4K
