A furious husband jumped onto the bonnet of a speeding pickup truck driven by his wife for 60 miles after catching her cheating on him with a friend.

Officers chased after the black vehicle which was speeding along the border between Ranong and Chumphon provinces in southern Thailand on April 25. The heartbroken man was seen clinging for his life onto the vehicle's windshield as his wife drove through the road with their five-year-old son also inside the truck.

Despite the police tailing her, she stubbornly pushed onward and took the Petchkasem route into Chumphon province. Authorities refrained from using force, fearing they may hurt either the child or the man who was still lying on the pickup's bonnet.

After driving for about 100 kilometres, the female driver only stopped upon encountering a traffic jam at an intersection. Officers intercepted her and shot at her wheels to keep her from trying to escape.

Footage shows police carrying down the husband, 49-year-old Tawee, who was exhausted from the death-defying ride. They took him to a nearby hospital to have his injuries treated as he had left cracks in the windshield after pummeling it with his bare hands.

Meanwhile, it took them more than an hour to persuade the wife, 48-year-old Supa, and the boy to leave the car. She was brought to the Mueang Chumphon Police Station for an interrogation, where police found out about her strained relationship with her husband.

Tawee reportedly suspected Supa of cheating on him with his close friend. The couple were caught in a heated argument while on their way home from a relative's funeral on April 25, when Supa finally admitted to having sex with Tawee's friend 'exactly once'.

With her secret revealed, Supa then tried to abandon her husband while they were stopped at a checkpoint by driving away without him in the pickup truck.

Officers said they are now trying to mediate between the couple, and will monitor them to ensure they don't cause any more trouble.

Police Lieutenant General Jirawat Thippayachan, who assisted with the case, said: 'The cause of the incident was a domestic problem between the couple. There are a lot of emotional problems between them.

'The behaviour of the driver and her husband was so dangerous they could have caused an accident. They put other people at risk. We have given them both warnings not to do this again.'
