A little girl was trapped inside a lift when her umbrella was caught between its doors.

CCTV footage taken in Henan province, China on March 16 shows the youngster rushing into the lift with the open umbrella trailing behind her. It became stuck at the entrance just as the doors were closing, leaving only the handle visible from inside.

The girl, in a panic, pressed on the emergency alarms while trying to pull her umbrella free. When that didn't work, she began banging on the lift's walls and jumping on the floor in order to alert adults inside the building.

The child's mum said: 'I was on my way home, but I hadn't seen my daughter so I thought she must have been waiting near the elevator. When I arrived, I found the doors closed and the emergency bell was ringing, so I called the police to get my girl out.'

The girl reportedly had scratches from pulling on the umbrella's handle. She was shaken but recovered at home following her scary ordeal.

Her parents said they will not allow her to use the elevator alone again.
