Fearless monkey destroys giant wasp nest outside home in Brazil
A fearless monkey destroyed a giant wasp nest in Brazil.
The hungry primate was stalking a house when it found the football-sized nest hanging outside a resident’s window in Rio de Janeiro on May 8.
Footage shows how the creature climbed toward the nest and slowly poked holes into the nest. The wasps attacked the monkey but it did not leave until he found the larva inside.
The monkey then tried destroying the nest while brushing away venomous wasps that were attacking. It then snacked on the larva like peanuts.
Resident Daniela Dacorso said: ‘Many months ago, wasps started to build this nest. It was very small in the beginning, but it grew very fast.
‘I knew I should remove it, but the public services that usually took care of that are not doing it anymore, so I had to hire someone to remove the nest but it was very expensive.
‘One morning, I was editing photos that I had taken at a party the night before when I heard the monkey getting near. I turned my head and saw him, so I closed the window and everything happened.’
The monkey ate all the wasp larva and Daniela added she was happy to have removed the nest for free in the most natural way.
She said: ‘I was very happy to see nature in action, and also, because I got rid of the wasps for free naturally.’
