A billboard caused traffic chaos after it collapsed onto the road and blocked off traffic in Cambodia.

The structure was blown down by strong winds from a thunderstorm that hit Phnom Penh on June 11. It reportedly crashed down on a tuk-tuk driver, who was taken to the hospital during rush hour.

Footage shows the slow movement of traffic along the waterlogged road as drivers struggled to skirt around the fallen signage. Other posts and signs also appear to have been damaged.

Authorities later arrived and cleared the path in the evening.

Shocked onlooker Ny Samut said: 'The wind was so strong. It came unexpectedly and made the buildings shake. It is scary when the storms happen.'

Traffic continued passing by the collapsed billboard before officials arrived later in the evening to clear the debris. The road was also flooded briefly due to the rain.

Cambodia and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November.

Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
