A TikTok user has come up with a savvy way of making money by handing over control of his bedroom to followers – allowing them to wake him up with lasers, irritating music and bubbles for cash.

Jakey Boehm, a full-time social media influencer from Australia’s Gold Coast, has recently blown up on the video-based platform, where he has 520,000 followers, thanks to his unusual "wake-up calls".

In a clip that has been viewed over 6.9 million times with over 438,000 likes, the 28-year-old is abruptly rustled from sleep at 12.30am with bubbles, an inflatable doll and the theme song from 'Barney The Dinosaur' blasting loudly.

Another video shows him woken up at 2am with speakers screeching dubstep tunes.

And it's a lucrative business, with the influencer pulling in £28,000 last month and is set to cash in even more in June.

To take part, users buy "gifts" on TikTok, which correspond to certain actions in the room.

“It started as one single gift and one sound," Jake told NeedToKnow.online.

"We now have lights, bubble machines, inflatables, laser lights and over 20 sound effects.

“Every night is the same, a sound or light is activated every 10-15 seconds, it’s constant all night."

The live sleep session runs for seven hours every night.

Jake said: “[I made] £35,000 USD last month. This month will be a lot higher.

“It’s life-changing and has changed my life forever. Zero regrets.

"I plan to keep doing the lives every night and adding new features.

"As long as people are watching and gifting, I'll be live.”

However, the unusual business venture does see the TikToker lose a lot of sleep.

TikTokers love the idea, flooding the comments section to share their thoughts.

“Where can I find an alarm like that??," wrote one user.

“I could sleep through that," added someone else.

Another person said: “That is definitely a way to wake up in the morning if you are a very deep sleeper.”

“Bet your neighbours love you,” joked someone else.

"My mother waking me up to go to school," added someone else.

"POV: Military alarms." wrote another user.
