Yesterday at around 1200 hrs, an information recd. from District Collector Jagtial district (TS) that 9 agricultural labourers from Bornapalli of Raikal mandal were stranded in a Kurru (Island) which is located in the middle of Godavari river as water in the river is flowing at danger level following the release of water from SRSP (Sri Ram Sagar Project). Hence, NDRF was requested to deploy NDRF team for rescue of stranded farm workers to safer place with the help of boats.

On getting information, responding immediately team 10E u/c Insp/GD Bhupendra Kumar deployed in Nizamabad district (TS) left from Nizamabad to Jagtial distt. telangana on 12.07.22 at 1300 hrs. In the mean time, Unit Control room also spoke to the workers over phone and enquired about the their condition that they requested to bring them out from Island. Control room motivated them not to worry, Control room also assured them to shift them to safer place without any harm by NDRF personnel.

NDRF team reached Bornapalli at 1815 hrs, analyzed the situation and Immediately swung into action to move towards the workers with the help of IRB and dragon lights to rescue agricultural workers stranded in a Kurru (Island). It was very difficult to reach to the stranded men due to high current water and dark . Negotiated the river well and reached to the island, collected all stranded persons and with all safety measures brought them to shore safely at about 2200 hrs.

With their immense contribution during flood operations in Kurru Island, NDRF team could be able to save 9 lives. The efforts made by the NDRF rescue team during late night in flood was appreciated by local MLA ,SP .,civil administration and public as well.

Commandant monitored whole operation from Unit Control Room ,took stock of the situation and briefed team comdr from time to time to rescue the workers.
