A quick-thinking tourist dodged an out-of-control car as it crashed through a bus station in Thailand.

The unidentified foreigner was with his girlfriend at the waiting area of buses leaving for Bangkok when a car careered through.

In a matter of seconds, he was seen leaping away from the vehicle's path while pulling the woman with him.

CCTV footage from the station in Phrae province in the north of the country shows the tourist narrowly avoiding the SUV with his partner as it accelerated towards them in reverse.

Investigators said the motorist was driving an automatic transmission car and accidentally left the gear in reverse instead of drive when they pressed the accelerator.

A police spokesman said: ‘The driver said he was taking a friend to the bus station but accidentally hit the wrong gas pedal instead of brakes while parking.'

The driver promised to pay for the damages while no one was hurt in the incident.
