A quick-thinking husband from Pennsylvania is being hailed a hero after performing the Heimlich maneuver on his wife, who had choked on a pineapple on the steps of their home.

CCTV footage shows Zaire Willis, an entrepreneur and fitness enthusiast, and wife Dominque leaving their Harrisburg home.

Dominque had been enjoying some fresh pineapple on the way out but in a sudden fit of laughter, she began to choke on a piece of the juicy fruit, gasping for air and grabbing her throat.

Without a second thought, Zaire jumped into action and performed the Heimlich maneuver on his wife, dislodging the obstructing piece of pineapple and allowing her to breathe easily again.

Video of the incident, which occurred in April, was posted on TikTok by Zaire, with many praising the husband's quick actions.

"She was literally dying laughing!" said one.

"Even when she bout to die y'all sound like you havin' a blast!" said another.

This heartwarming story is a reminder of the importance of knowing basic first aid techniques and of the power of love and quick thinking in the face of an emergency.
