Towns and cities in the Tohoku and Hokuriku regions in Japan woke up to widespread flooding on August 4 due to torrential rains.

The record rainfall that started from late Wednesday night until early Thursday morning prompted special alerts for heavy rain and evacuation. The weather system is expected to remain stationary over Honshu until Thursday afternoon.

This video shows a portion of a street in Komatsu City, Ishikawa prefecture seemingly turning into a river after heavy rains there.
