Newly released footage shows the terrifying power of a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) launched by the U.S. Marines.

Fired during the recent Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise at Pohakuloa Training Area in Hawaii, on July 18, 2022, the video certainly demonstrates the system's capabilities quite effectively.

According to the U.S. Marines, HIMARS can fire at a 186-miles (300-kilometer) target with 1-meter accuracy and is referred to as a "strategic fires" asset for Marine artillery.

RIMPAC runs from June 29 to August 4 each year on the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California with 26 nations, 38 ships, 3 submarines, 170 planes, and 25,000 soldiers.

RIMPAC, the world's largest maritime exercise, provides a unique training opportunity while establishing and sustaining cooperative ties among participants.

The current event marks the 28th RIMPAC exercise since 1971.
