The U.S. Marines unleashed chopper Gatling guns firepower during a live-fire drill in the Philippines.

Footage shows American helicopter gunships spinning up their rotors aboard a vessel before one takes off and opens fire with a Gatling gun mounted on the side, firing at mock targets.

The video also reveals other heavy machine guns in action before the aircraft returned to land.

The US Department of Defense (DoD) released the images on Tuesday, October 8, along with a statement saying: '31st Marine Expeditionary Unit Marines executed a defence of the amphibious task force live-fire exercise in the Philippine Sea. The exercise demonstrated the Marines' defence capabilities, integrating with US Navy sailors to dispel potential threats to the USS GREEN BAY (LPD 20).'
