A 12-year-old boy from Haryana, India, developed three learning apps all by himself with only YouTube for guidance, and set records in the process.

Kartikeya Jakhar, a Class 8 student of Jhajjar’s Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, began his coding journey when his farmer father, Ajit Singh, bought him a mobile phone to help him with online classes during the pandemic.

The device cost just 10,000 (125 US dollars) and he soon began to face problems with it. “The mobile phone had many issues as it used to hang during the coding process. But with the help of You Tube, I fixed the phone and continued with my studies," he said.

He added: "I made three apps. The first was related to general knowledge, named Lucent GK online. The second was Ram Kartik Learning Centre, that teaches coding and graphic designing, and the third was Shri Ram Kartik Digital Education. Now, these apps are offering free training to over 50,000 students."

His applications would provide free training to poor and needy students, he said.

His father expressed pride at his son's achievements, saying it has brought glory to his village and even the nation. He added that he had suggested to his son that he make his career in computer technology, to serve society.

The young lad has been awarded a record for the youngest app developer by India's OMG Book of Records. He has also submitted his achievement to Guinness World Records for verification though it is unclear whether the achievement has yet been recognised them.

Reports also claim the boy won a scholarship after clearing the entrance exam of B.Sc in Computer Science at Harvard University, and is now studying on the course. These reports have not been verified by Newsflare.
