Owl lands on woman's shoulders and humps her head
An eagle owl bizarrely landed on a woman’s shoulders during a night out and humped her head.
Cerys Nelmes was walking with a friend through Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire, England, when the bird, known locally as Eddie, swooped over them.
Hilarious footage captured the moment the owl landed on the 44-year-old’s shoulders and started pecking furiously at her short grey hair.
Cerys believes that the animal was attracted to it.
The filmer said: "Eddie had a habit of swooping on people, but I’d never seen it. I was walking down the high street and heard him hooting. Suddenly, I heard him swooping behind me and I was just lucky I had my phone in my hand. He had just landed on me before the video started so about 10 seconds".
While she was screaming, Eddie eventually flew off having realised he was unable to mate with her head.
"Despite the fact his talons were digging into my shoulder, he didn’t hurt me", Cerys said.
The woman said she spoke to experts to understand more about the owl's behaviour. "They believe he was lonely and trying to mate with me because he was attracted to my short, grey hair".
Cerys’ video, which was filmed in 2017 but has only just been uploaded to TikTok, has been viewed more than 47,000 times.
“Unfortunately, the owl disappeared from the area a couple of years ago so I’m glad I had this experience.”
