Several sewage pollution alerts over the weekend of the 21st and 22nd of October were announced via the Surfers Against Sewage alert website for the North Fistral area of Newquay. The popular beach expects thousands of water enthusiasts over the half term school holiday. Extremely strong downpours of rain overwhelm the sewage and street drainage systems and cause a storm sewage to reach the sea. A noticeable plume of released water is clearly visible in the Bay Area and at Cribbar Head outfall. Currents often sweep water around to popular Little Fistral and Fistral main beaches. A stone built South West Water authority pumping station occupies a vantage point above Little Fistral beach.
