'Heirloom hunter' discovers family album from early 1900s – revealing tragic WWII love story.
A woman dubbed the 'heirloom hunter' has revealed her latest interesting find – uncovering a tragic love story from a photo album that dates back to the 1900s.
Chelsey Brown, 28, from New York, US, finds photos, letters, and family heirlooms, reuniting the items with the owners' descendants.
The influencer, who has nearly 100,000 followers on Instagram, recently came across a very old photo album and after some digging, was shocked by the story behind the black and white images.
The album is believed to have belonged to a woman who reportedly married her sweetheart when she was 22 years old.
Tragically, after fighting in WWII, her husband became very sick and passed at the young age of 35.
The man, not named, had suffered heart failure for 10 years, as well as tuberculosis for five years, before his passing.
At the time of his death, he had been in the hospital for three months, revealing a tragic end to the couple's love story.
The woman eventually re-married but didn't get her happy ending, dying herself at a young age.
"After more research, I found through MyHeritage.com, that at 40, she married again and died just short of that birthday," Chelsey, who runs the podcast Time TravelHER, told NeedToKnow.online.
"She didn’t end up having children, however, she was survived by a niece and nephews and was very close with them.
"I’ve been trying to get into contact with them over the phone, and still haven’t been able to get in touch.
"Many times, families think I’m a scam and are hesitant to respond at first.
"But I never make families pay for the heirlooms or shipment – I do this pro bono!
"I’m hoping I can eventually get into contact with the family as I believe there are images of them as small children."
The album includes various photos of the couple, their family members and many portraits.
In one image, three people can be seen smiling while sat on an old, vintage car.
In another snap, a woman looks solemn while sat on some rocks, while in a different photo a woman can be seen playing the accordion.
Yet another image shows a man lying on a camp bed, while another has a cigarette in his mouth and is reaching into his pocket.
Chelsey shared a clip detailing the unusual discovery on Instagram, where her video racked up more than 10,000 views and 1,653 likes.
