A newborn panda cub weighing 270.4g at a panda sanctuary in southern China became the world’s heaviest captive baby panda.

Video filmed in Wolong Shenshuping Panda Sanctuary in Sichuan Province on August 5 shows a keeper feeding a newborn female panda cub.

According to China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Panda, a 16-year-old panda named Cui Cui gave birth to the cub at 9.39 pm on August 5, breaking the previous birth weight record of 249g held by a panda named Mei Qian born in 2021.
