Over 100 kids trapped in Chinese mall fire, rescued

Over 100 kindergarten children were trapped when a fire broke out in a shopping mall in China's Fujian province on Wednesday but were quickly rescued, a media report said.

The blaze started in a flower shop in the commercial block in Fujian province on Wednesday and spread through the building to the kindergarten located on the second floor, reported China Daily.

The children were transported to hospital for check-ups after being rescued, the report said.

No casualties have been reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

今天(16日)上午11点多,宁德市蕉城区菊池商厦发生火灾,浓烟很快弥漫到二楼的一所幼儿园,多名幼儿被困园内。接警后,当地消防官兵迅速赶赴救援,现场许多群众也自发加入到救援行动中。
事发时,宁德蕉城区菊池商厦一楼、二楼冒出浓烟,消防官兵架设多部梯子营救被困人员,救援人员及群众从楼梯抱出多名被困幼儿。
这时,过往的私家车临时充当救护车,迅速将救出的小孩送往医院,将小孩全部救出后,救援人员全力营救被困的大人,在各个窗口用梯子、木架搭成救生通道,将被困人员一一从二楼救下。
同时,消防官兵架设水枪灭火,多名消防员进入二楼继续搜救被困人员。
12时28分,大火被扑灭,目前无人员死亡。
