A four-story apartment building in Lucknow, India's posh Hazratganj area collapsed on Tuesday (January 24) evening, leaving over two dozen people trapped.

At least 12 people trapped in the building’s rubble were pulled out alive by Tuesday midnight as hectic rescue operations stretched into the night.

. "We didn’t run, instead sat down then and there, because we were helpless and sure that we cannot be saved, and prayed to Allah," said Shajh, a resident.

Several teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local police, and fire brigade personnel were involved in the rescue operation.

All rescued residents are reported to have no major injuries.

While Preparing, I heard sound of cracking glasses, I immediately told my bhabhi, that something is cracking or breaking, but is invisible to us but we could sense it through the cracking sound, the building didn’t shake we stood firm but within 5 mins, it collapsed .
We didn’t run, instead sat down then and there, because we were helpless and sure that we cannot be saved , and prayed to ALLAH.

Several teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local police and fire brigade personnel were involved in the rescue operation.

All those who have been rescued so far are fine and have been admitted to the Civil Hospital.
