Tourists shouted and kicked the door to force a temple to open at night in northern China.

Video filmed in the city of Xinzhou in Shanxi Province on January 25 shows dozens of tourists shouting "open the door" together outside the Guanghua Temple repeatedly.

The tourists were also seen knocking at the temple's door and kicking it.

Finally, the temple's door opened and the tourists walked inside.

According to an employee of the Wutaishan Scenery Spot, Guanghua Temple is famous for its light show and it had the show on the first two nights of the Chinese New Year holiday. So tourists thought the light show would be displayed at every night and queued to see it at the temperature of -20 degrees Celsius.

However, the temple was recently closed overnight to avoid the traffic jams caused by the overcrowding of tourists at the Wutai Mountain scenic spot. The temple has apologised for not posting a notice for the temporary closure in advance.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
