A bungling driver crashed into a scooter when he tried to beat the red light at a junction.

Dashcam footage shows the grey sedan emerging on the left side lane as it sped across the busy road in Cebu province, the Philippines on February 5.

The driver didn't seem to notice an oncoming rider and slammed onto him, knocking him to the ground.

The sedan was seen slowing down to the other side of the junction while the other motorists helped the fallen rider.

Driver John Nathan Clamor who was behind the sedan said: ‘This is what happens when we fail to observe simple traffic rules and signs.

‘We could hurt ourselves and others. It's always better to be safe and avoid accidents.'

The rider had bruises and wounds from the fall but he was not seriously hurt.
