Dramatic police chase to catch motorcycle rider 'on drugs'
Dramatic footage shows cops pursuing a 'suspicious' motorcycle rider in a high-speed chase through traffic.
Police Senior Sergeant Major Jakkapong Pojjanapan was on patrol duty when he encountered Wasan Sirilert, 42, revving his engine in the middle of a road in Ang Thong province, Thailand, on February 17.
The rider appeared to be driving 'suspiciously' and reportedly took off when ordered to pull over, prompting the officer to give chase.
Nail-biting footage shows the law enforcers weaving through traffic as they followed the alleged miscreant.
They covered three miles before finally catching up with the motorist, who fell from his blue Honda while making a sharp turn.
Police pinned him down and searched his belongings, allegedly finding 168 methamphetamine pills and around 110 milligrams of crystal meth. They also claimed they found lead papers and a pierced plastic bottle believed to be for consuming the drugs.
Hero cop Jakkapong said: 'The suspect was being loud and acting suspiciously so I tried to apprehend him. I had to call for backup since he was driving too fast.'
Wasan said he tried to escape in a panic after seeing the police following him. He was detained in police custody to prepare for his prosecution.
