2 dead, 2 injured as billowing flames tear through homes in Philippines
Two people died and two others were injured in a large fire that ripped through homes in the Philippines on Monday morning.
Footage shows the billowing flames spreading to power cables in Barangay Batasan Hills in Quezon City, Metro Manila on March 6, with terrified locals evacuating from their homes.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the blaze broke out at 6:58 am local time and was extinguished at 8:15 am.
Ghian Andrew, 16, and his aunt Lophel Dioso, 50, were killed in the fire. Residents Mike Milallos, 22, and Gelin Dioso, 48, were treated for burns and abrasions.
Authorities said the fire caused an estimated 25,000 PHP (450 USD) in property damage.
A fuel tank explosion from a kitchen in the neighborhood is believed to have caused the fire. An investigation is ongoing.
