This is the shocking moment a Cessna training plane crashed into a cornfield in Turkey.

Berfu Hatipoglu, 31, took off from Selcuk Efes Airport in a Cessna 172 at around 8:30 am on September 3 for a routine training flight.

Minutes later, the plane lost altitude and came down vertically in a cornfield in the town of Torbali, Izmir Province.

Footage shows the aircraft plummeting to the ground with a loud bang as bystanders react to the crash.

Firefighters, police, search and rescue teams, and medical crews rushed to the scene.

An incident report from the Aviation Safety Network stated: 'A Cessna 172S Skyhawk SP crashed in a corn field near Kirbas, Torbali district, Izmir. The student pilot perished and the aircraft was destroyed.'

Her body was taken for autopsy at the Forensic Medicine Institute before being buried in Seyrekli Village Cemetery the following day.

Berfu was born in 1994 and lived in Izmir. She studied at Dokuz Eylul University while working part-time as a flight attendant.

She often shared her passion for flying and her dream of becoming a commercial airline pilot.

Berfu was training at the Turkish Aeronautical Association Flight Academy to obtain her pilot's licence and advance her aviation career.

After the crash, investigators lifted the wreckage by crane and transported it back to Selcuk Efes Airport. The Transportation Safety Investigation Centre in Ankara is conducting a detailed examination of the wreckage.

The Izmir Governor's Office confirmed her death in a statement and said investigators were looking into the cause of the crash.

Her death was noted by aviation organisations, including the Turkish Aeronautical Association, which expressed condolences online.
