Scientists managed to get up close and personal to the smoking crater of a Hawaiian volcano, which temporarily paused its eruptive activity.
They were able to film a stunning close-up of the Halema‘uma‘u crater at the Kilauea Summit, Hawaii during an overflight on 10th March.Although numerous outgassing sites were present on the crater floor, no active lava was found on the surface.

The video footage captured during the overflight provided a comprehensive view of the crater, followed by a closer examination of the western crater floor. This pause in eruptive activity is a temporary respite, as experts continue to monitor the volcanic activity closely.
