A friendly wild elephant waved its trunk at passing tourists on river rafts.

The jumbo named Plai Dan Siam was drinking water when the holidaymakers paddled their inflatable dinghies along the water in Chiang Mai, Thailand on February 21.

Footage shows Plai Dan Siam lifting his trunk and motioning goodbye to the group.

Onlooker Naing Lin said: ‘The elephant was so cute and didn't stop waving until the last boat left. He was really kind and welcoming.'
