This is the shocking moment a baby snake was found curled up inside a woman's boot.

Saowakon Khonthong felt a soft lump when she tried to put on the red shoe, initially thinking it was just a frog. However, when she shone a flashlight inside, she discovered a juvenile copperhead rat snake.

Footage shows the reptile coiled up as it moves its tail in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on November 13.

The woman was not harmed in the encounter.

Saowakon said that she first shook the shoes repeatedly to check for anything inside, and when nothing emerged, she put them on. She immediately felt a really soft sensation, which led her to shine a flashlight into the shoe, suspecting a frog.

She added: 'I was startled when I found out that it was a snake. Luckily, it had its head turned towards the very front tip of the shoe.'

The copperhead rat snake is a non-venomous, medium-sized snake native to Southeast Asia that preys on rodents, birds, and eggs and often lives near human settlements.
