This is the heartstopping moment a child that was playing with a tealight candle lighter set the family's sofa on fire.

The little boy was alone when the furniture beside him when he curiously pushed the button on the electric device and the furniture ignited in Songkhla province, Thailand, on March 28.

Seemingly confused about what to do, he walked back and forth in front of the television as the blaze ate up the white cloth.

Finally, he decided to walk out of the door and escape. CCTV footage shows the inferno engulfing the sofa.

The house was filled with thick smoke until an adult was barely seen putting out the fire with a blanket.

Resident Salwa and the boy's relative said: ‘Our house was almost burned down. I hope our experience becomes a warning to everyone. Do not leave your child in the house alone.'

No one was hurt, and the fire was put out before it could spread into the house.
