Mystery surrounds the location of the missing girlfriend of a murdered British teenager as her parents - seen in the video with police - today joined the search for the girl and brought a psychic medium to try and find her.

Suraphltchaya Khamsa, 16, was the last person seen with Woramet Ben Taota, 16, before he was found bludgeoned to death in Lampang, northern Thailand, on May 7.

Sex crimes convict Chaiwat Boongarin, 44, allegedly admitted killing the man, known by his English name Ben, but has refused to say whether he also slayed schoolgirl Suraphltchaya or if she was involved with the death.

Suraphltchaya, known by her nickname Ping Pong, was seen on CCTV riding a motorcycle with Ben on May 6 evening but has not been seen again since. She has allegedly not been in contact with relatives and her parents flew in from neighbouring Taiwan to help the search today.

Police officers continued using sniffer dogs and drones as they scoured dense woodland in the northern county, around 400 miles from the capital Bangkok.

The girl's father Supoj and her mother Suthasinee arrived from Taiwan today. Their grandparents also brought a psychic medium with them to the area of the search and began local Buddhist prayers for the teenager to be found safe.

Supoj said: '"We work overseas and urgently returned to help find our daughter and file the missing person report.

"My daughter is always playing with her phone. She is attached to it. We had even spoken with her just one day before it happened. She told us about her relationship with Ben and she was so happy.

"Suraphltchaya never mentioned the suspect to us. We are very worried. She had a habit of frequently calling us to ask for money for her personal expenses.'

The search came as Ben's devastated father Steven Graham, 60, confronted the alleged killer during a chaotic crime reconstruction on Wednesday. He is also unsure of how the girl is involved with Ben and the alleged killer.

The businessman, who travelled this week from his home in Eastbourne, East Sussex, said: "It was dreadful to see [Boongarin], just ghastly. And the girl is still missing... she was the girl who was on the back of Ben's motorbike. And they went together to where this bloke was.

Steven said that the case "may not have been as straightforward as I was first told but there's possibly information that links her to what happened".

He added: "The suspect has admitted to killing Ben but he won't say anything about the girl. So either he has done something terrible to her or she had some sort of involvement and he is giving her time to get away".

Chaiwat allegedly confessed to battering Ben to death. He made claims that Ben and Suraphltchaya had been involved with him in buying and selling drugs but claimed that Ben had short-changed him.

Officers said that Chaiwat confessed following an intense interrogation but has not given them any further information about the girl. Ben's other girlfriend Yam, 16, has also been ruled out of the case and said she is unaware of the whereabouts of the second girlfriend.

Police Major General Mongkol Sampawapol, commander of Lampang Provincial Police, said: "The suspect is being interrogated and there is an intensive search for the missing teenage girl".

As the search for the missing girl continued, her relatives, including her grandfather and grandmother, worked with the police in their efforts. Police said that no significant clues or leads have been discovered.

The grandparents said that the fortune teller had told them that Suraphltchaya would be found within three miles of where Ben was discovered.
